Three armed bandits on Saturday evening robbed a businessman and his wife of an undisclosed sum of cash at their Melanie Damishana, East Coast Demerara home. It was the third time for this year the family has suffered at the hands of a marauding gang which seems to be targeting the villages of Non Pariel, Coldingen, Strathspey, Vigilance, Foulis and Enterprise Gardens. Saturday night's robbery occurred at the Appana's residence located at Melanie South on the Cinema Road. At the time of the robbery, both Davechand Appana and his wife, Hemrajie were home having already closed off business for the day. The men, according to reports, broke into the couple's home and demanded cash. When Stabroek News visited the area yesterday the family was not at home. A police officer told Stabroek News that they had responded quickly to the robbery, but the bandits had already fled. Following the robbery, ranks have intensified their patrols along the Railway Embankment between the villages of Lusignan and Foulis. |
