Family
tied up, beaten and robbed at Cottage, Mahaicony
A
family at Cottage, Mahaicony is now in a traumatised state after being robbed,
beaten and tied up by five armed bandits on Sunday night. The gunmen then made
off with a substantial amount of cash and jewellery.
According
to Darshanand Manohar, at about 8:30 hrs, five unmasked men entered his
family’s home and terrorised the four occupants for half hour while
demanding cash and jewellery.
Manohar,
a son, who is expected to be married in another two weeks, was not at home
when the bandits struck. His father, Eldon Chisholm, 44; mother, Monica
Monohar, 44; uncle, Terrence Cuchit and brother, Andre Hardat endured
severe beatings from the bandits, who were not satisfied with their loot.
Chisholm
said he sustained injuries to his head and body as the bandits had kicked him
several times while he was tied up. The family expressed dissatisfaction at
the Police response. Shortly after the robbery, the family reported the matter
to the Police at Mahaica, but they were not visited by any ranks until the
following day.
